Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a large amount of an alloy powder with reduced segregation state for a contact material or the like in a short process by a method wherein a molten stream of an alloy is sprayed and the sprayed mist like particle is collided to a rotary disc in a liquid phase to be cooled and solidified.
CONSTITUTION: A molten alloy 1 such as an Ag-Bi oxide type or the like is flowed out from an inside of a crucible 2 through a funnel dish 4. The resultant molten stream 7 is passed through a spray nozzle 9 and injected to a rotary disc 10 in a mist form. Said rotary disc 10 is cooled from a back surface thereof by cooling water. The mist like alloy collided to the rotary disc 10 is rapidly cooled into a solid phase from a liquid phase and, further, converted to a scale like powder and the resultant powder receives centrifugal force by the rotary disc 10 to be scattered outwardly from the disc 10. The scattered powder is adhered to an inner wall surface of a main body 15 but collected and fallen by a cooling water film downwardly flowed along the inner wall surface thereof and taken out to the outside. By this method, a metal alloy powder with homogeneous and stable quality suitable for a contact material or the like is obtained in a large amount.
