Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the metal powder which has less oxide films and has abundant undulations by providing walls of cooling water around powdering point and capturing and quenching metal powder at the time of spraying high-velocity flow to flowing-down molten metal to powder the same.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal 3 is flowed down from the bottom hole of a funnel 2 and is powdered at the powdering point P by spraying jet fluid 4 of high pressure water, air or gas from a nozzle 5. The powdered molten metel falls into the cooling water 8 in the lower part and precipitates and accumulates in the bottom 9 of a spray tank 1 as powder-form metal. At this time, concave walls 12 are formed in the cooling water 8 by the rotation of the impeller 11 provided in the bottom of the spray tank 1. Or the cylindrical walls 14 of cooling water are formed from the annular nozzle 13 provided on the outer side of the nozzle 5.
