Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a strong, uniform preform free from porosity by changing a molten metal by an atomizer into spray particles and thermally spraying the spray particles generated in a thermally spraying equipment to this spray particles and depositing the same. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal 1 stored at a tundish 1a is made to flow down from a nozzle by moving a stopper upwards. Inert gas or reducing gas at low temperatures and at high pressure is blown from the atomizer 2 arranged below the tundish 1a toward the molten metal flow to generate spray particles 4. In a chamber 10, the spray particles 4 are deposited on a collector 8 provided with a drive system 9 to obtain a preform 7. In the spray deposition equipment, a thermally spray particles 5 of molten metal powder different from the molten metal 1 is thermally sprayed from a thermally spray equipment 3 toward a stream of the spray particles 4. Thermally sprayed particles are scattered and reinforced to produce the reinforced particles and to form reinforced preform 7 free from porosity.
