Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce spheroidal metallic particles in high yields by dropping molten metal in the form of liquid drops through a nozzle having a specific diameter into refractory inorg. material powder and cooling and solidifying the same.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic simple substance or an alloy 6 is put in a crucible 9 installed in a heating furnace 7, is melted by heating, is held at the temp. not higher by 30°C than the melt temp. of said metal and is dropped through a nozzle 8. The inside diameter of the nozzle 8 is set at 0.5W5mm to sheroidize the liquid drops 11 of the molten metal dropping from the nozzle 8 perfectly. The liquid drops are dropped into refractory inorg. material powder 13 such as diatomaceous earth put in a vessel 12, and is buried therein, whereby they are cooled to solidify. The spheroidal bodies of uniform sizes having no shrinkage cavities are produced in high yields.
