Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to remove easily a spacer of intricate form, by making a spacer of metallic material melting at a temp. lower than the m.p. of raw mateiral powder in hot hydrostatic pressing of raw material powder packed in an irregular space formed by use of a spacer within a capsule, then by making the spacer melt and flow out of the capsule after pressing.
CONSTITUTION: A spacer 2 is arranged as a core in a capsule 1 made of glass etc., and the other space of irregular shape is filled with raw material powder 3 and the capsule is sealed tightly. The spacer 2 is made of material melting at a temp. lower than the m.p. of the raw material powder 3. When the raw material powder 3 consists of iron-contg. metal, e.g., high speed steel, low alloy steel, or iron powder, the spacer 2 is made from Cu, A1, or their alloy. After hot hydrostatic pressing at a temp. lower than the m.p. of the spacer metal, the capsule is heated at a temp. higher than the m.p. of the spacer 2 and lower than the m.p. of the material of irregular shape, so that the spacer 2 melts and flows out of the capsule to form simply a sintered material.
