Abstract
PURPOSE: To carry out the thawing of a frozen product, uniformly and efficiently, independent of its size, shape, etc., by detecting the output level of the radiofrequency output applied to the frozen product at the initial stage of thawing, and controlling the intensity of the radiofrequency output by the electric signal corresponding to the detected output level.
CONSTITUTION: The frozen product 1 to be thawed is placed between a pair of electrodes 2 and 3, and arbitrary level of DC voltage is applied to a radiofrequency (RF) oscillator 7. A certain level of RF electricity is applied by this process to the electrodes 2, 3, to initiate the thawing of the frozen product 1. The level of the RF output depends upon the size, shape, etc. of the product to be thawed, and accordingly, the input current also depends thereupon. The level of the current is detected by the detecting circuit 131. According to the current level, the optimum intensity of the RF output is determined by the information processing circuit 132 and the memory circuit 133, and the signal indicating the optimum RF output intensity is transmitted through the output control circuit 134 to the switching circuit 130, by which the iptimum DC voltage to the oscillator 7 is set.
