PURPOSE: To esimate the time necessary for thawing, automatically, and stop the dielectric heating, by detecting the electrical signal corresponding to the radiofrequency output power of the radiofrequency generator at the initial stage of thawing.
CONSTITUTION: The material to be thawed 4 is placed between a pair of electrode 2a and 2b. The low-frequency electricity is rectified with the rectifying circuit 30, and the DC electricity is applied to the radiofrequency (RF) generating circuit 31 and is converted to RF electricity. The RF electricity is applied to the electrodes 2a and 2b and the material to be thawed is heated thereby. In the above process, the RF output level of the RF generating circuit 31 at the initial stage of thawing is detected by the input current detecting circuit 320, and the necessary thawing time is preset by the timer circuit 321 according to the detected output level. After elapsing the preset time, the dielectric heating is stopped by the switching circuit 33 to terminate the thawing.
