Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the reduction of NOx, the prevention of excessively early ignition at the time of high load and the suppression of knocking in a hydrogen engine of the type ejecting hydrogen of fuel into a cylinder by injecting the hydrogen in the state lower than 0°C.
CONSTITUTION: A hydrogen engine is, for example, constructed in two cycle, and has a piston 4 reciprocating in a cylinder 3 having a scavenging hole 1 and an exhaust hole 2, a hydrogen injecting valve 5 interlocked with the piston 4 and an ignition plug 6. The temperature of the hydrogen injected from the valve 5 into the cylinder 3 is lowered to lower than 0°C and is then supplied thereto. Thus, the temperature in the combustion chamber is lowered to reduce NOx. Further, excessively early ignition at high load time can be effectively prevented by cooling the overheated part in the combustion chamber. Even if the compression ratio is increased higher than normal state, knocking is suppressed to improve the thermal effeciency.
