Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the sealing at a low temperature, by using an infrared-ray absorbing glass for the welding part of a stem to be sealed into a neck-tube such as a cathode-ray tube or the like and by using a general lead glass for the other parts. CONSTITUTION:When a neck-tube 6 at the lower end of a bulb 5 of a cathode-ray tube or the like is welded with a stem 1 which supports a leading wire 8 to be connected to an electron gun or an electron accelerating part 4, the stem 1 is devided into two parts namely external periphery 1A and internal periphery 1B, where the external periphery 1A to be welded to the neck part 6 shall be made of the infrared ray-absorbing glass or the glass containing 35-80% of PbO, while the glass of the internal periphery 1B shall be made of the general glass containing 30% or so of PbO. Accordingly, even a weak caloric force can perform a prompt welding, thus the oxidation of the leading wires 2 and 8 and the electron gun 3 can be minimized, and the reliability can be also enhanced.
