Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain constant development characteristics by carrying a single-component insulating magnetic toner by the covering surface, of a carrier member, containing inorganic high molecular carbon fluoride. CONSTITUTION:When an electrostatic image holding surface 1 turns, a nonmagnetic cylinder 4b which has an about 20mum thickness coat layer consisting of inorganic high molecular carbon fluoride and a high molecular polymer on a surface as a developer carrier is turned because a multipolar permanent magnet 9 is fixed so as not to turn, and consequently while the cylinder surface is applied with a single-component insulating magnetic developer 11 carried from a developer container 12, toner particles are charged with the opposite polarity to that of electrostatic image charge by friction. An iron-made doctor blade 10 is arranged close to the cylinder surface and opposite to a magnetic pole position to restrict the thickness of a toner layer thinly and uniformly. The inorganic high molecular carbon fluoride is a graphite layer compound expressed by general formula (CFx)n.
