Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a stable and high-quality picture without fog for a long time by making the toner layer on the toner supply material contactless to the toner carrier and by applying an electric field to supply the toner from the supply material to the carrier.
CONSTITUTION: Though the toner is held on applying roller 8 due to magnetic force of magnet roller 7 and is carried by rotation of the sleeve, the toner is charged with electricity by friction for carrying, slide and friction for thickness control in the position of blade 10, and so on. The charged and thickness-controlled toner is moved to roller 2 and is applied onto sleeve 4 in position A where applying roller 6 is opposite to developing roller 2. At this time, the toner jumps from applying roller 6 to developing roller 2 due to the electric field generated the potential difference dependent upon power source V applied between rollers 2 and 6. The toner which jumped and was applied onto sleeve 4 is held due to magnetic force of magnet roller 3 to make the electrostatic latent image on the drum into an apparent picture in the face opposite to drum 1.
