Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep the toner of a surface layer in a stable state and to obtain a stabilized image by providing a friction charging member in a toner feed passage in a magnetic brush developing process.
CONSTITUTION: Magnetic brush 4 for feeding charged toner and magnetic brush 7 for supplying the toner to brush 4 are provided around photosensitive drum 1 of an electrostatic latent image carrier, and between the two brushes porous plate 9 is installed consisting of a friction charging material different in frictional series from toner 10 made of one component type magnetic toner. Toner 10 is charged by triboelectricity on passing through gaps 9 of plate 9 on the feed passage from brush 7 to brush 4, and sufficiently charged toner 10 is supplied to charged sleeve 2, regulated to a constant rate with doctor 11, and thus fed to a developing section.
