Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform developing of high densities with less ground photographic fog by applying high-frequency alternating voltage between a toner carrying body and a thickness control member for the toner thereby vibrating the toner.
CONSTITUTION: A rotatable sleeve 2 of a nonmagnetic material in proximity to a photosensitive drum 1 and a magnet roller 3 secured to the inside thereof are provided. A blade 5 for controlling the thickness of the magnetic toner 4 is provided in proximity to the sleeve surface, and AC bias voltage is applied to this by a power source device 6. At this time, the sleeve 2 is held grounded. The magnetic toner 4 is rubbed by the rotation of the sleeve 2 and has charge of a certain extent. However, further the toner 4 arriving near the blade 5 is limited of its thickness by the blade 5; at the same time, the alternating voltage applied between the sleeve 2 and the blade 5 causes the toner to go between both, thus the toner is rubbed and is thoroughly charged. Hence, with such constitution, the developing of high densities with less ground photographic fog is accomplished.
