Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce moisture sensitivity, and to uniform electric characteristics and the property of application to a carrier by applying a single-component insulating magnetic toner to a surface, containing an organic silicone polymer in rubbing and electrifying the surface. CONSTITUTION:When an electrostatic image holding surface 1 moves as shown by an arrow, a nonmagnetic cylinder 4b which has a covering layer containing an organic silicone polymer on a surface as a developer carrier is turned because a multipolar permanent magnet 9 is so fixed that it does not turn, and consequently while the cylinder surface is applied with a single-component insulating magnetic developer 11 supplied from a developer container 12, toner particles are charged with the opposite polarity to that of electrostatic image charged by the friction between the cylinder surface and the toner particles. An iron-made doctor blade 10 is arranged close to the cylinder surface and opposite one of magnetic pole positions of the magnet 9, thereby restricting the thickness of a toner layer thinly and uniformly.
