Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to cool efficiently by a method wherein an air is contacted to carbon fibers containing a moiture adsorbent and/or a moisure absorbent to obtain dry air, and te carbon fibers having absorbed the moisture are regenerated by heating.
CONSTITUTION: In a cooling system for cooling by cold water which is obtained by contacting dry air to water, the dry air is obtained by contacting air to the carbon fibers 1 formed into the shape of a nonwoven fabric sheet and containing the moisture adsorbent (absorbent), and the carbon fibers 1 is dried and regenerated by heating them with the solar heat or the like. In the case of using the sheets of carbon fibers 1 after assembling them into a honeycomb structure, air A to be treated enters the structure at one side face, while a cooling gas B enters the structure at a face perpendicular to said side face, and both gases pass through the gaps in the structure respectively. In this case, the air A is deprived of moisture by adsorption and is taken out as dry air, the degree of dryness being enhanced due to the cooling by the cooling gas B which flows in the direction orthogonal to that of the ariflow.
