Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a gas absorber having good efficiency of absorption for gases and less pressure loss by using packings partly made of a fibrous sheet and having a specifically formed cylinder shape for a gas absorber and arranging the packings in a specific direction in the gas absorber.
CONSTITUTION: Packings to be used in a gas absorber are made up by laminating corrugated sheets 6 through flat sheets 7, in which a large number of small through holes 8 through which an absorbent liquid and gases to be absorbed can pass are formed between the sheets 6 and 7. In the sheets 6 and 7 with a thickness of 3mm and formed into a papery, nonwoven or woven fabriclike, or braided shape, absorbent liquid uniformly flows while impregnating into the entangled fibers of the sheets and comes into contact with gas, and therefore, excellent absorption efficiency can be obtained and flooding phenomenon is difficult to take place.
