Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable photomagnetic recording with high speed and density without strong energized light, by heating only a minute area on a magnetic recording medium with heat of light and making magnetic write-in with a photo induced magnetized crystal head producing quick magnetization. CONSTITUTION:A coherent light A radiated from an energizing laser 1 is converged with a lens 2 and a straight line polarized light B through a polarizer 3. A photomodulator 4 modulates the light B into a left/right circular polarized light C according to the voltage of a modulation signal source 5. The light C is radiated on a photo induced magnetized crystal head 6 to energize magnetic ions in the crystal, allowing to produce negative (positive) magnetization according to the polarized angle of the right (left) circular polarized light C from the energized part and to induce a magnetic field H externally. Further, the light C passes through the head 6 to cause magnetic inversion on a magnetic recording medium 7 locally heated as a heated light D as shown in the arrow for magnetic write-in.
