Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to ensure recording and reproducing easily, by using recording and heating beam set so that the forming of magnetization inversion area is singly impossible. CONSTITUTION:A disc 11 turns with the operation of a recording switch, and an optical device 13 and a heating beam radiation device 43 are fed radially to the disc by a feeding mechanism 14. A beam 28 for recording and a beam 44 for heating are so set that they cannot singly form the mangetization inversion area on a magnetic substance thin film 17 of the disc 11, and the sum of the modulation beam 28 and the heating beam 44 forms the magnetization inversion area. At reproducing, recording/reproducing beam 28 and tracking beams 29, 30 are radiated on the recording track so that the light having specified rotating angle of polarized surface only can be detected at the photodetector 25, allowing to obtain the reproducing output through the use that the rotating angle of polarized surface of the reflected light at the magnetization inversion area is differenct from that in other locations.
