Abstract

PURPOSE:To accomplish uniform cooling of good efficiency and create an atmosphere adequate for controlling the cooling by injecting gas and water from a cooler for a strip-like body traveling in a vertical direction then expelling the water separated from the gas and water quickly and surely from the strip-like body and the neighborhood thereof. CONSTITUTION:A gas-water injecting device 1 has a large number of rectangular gas, water ejection ports 2, 3 in the width direction on the side opposed to a hot strip S. These ports are positioned respectively upward at a grade alpha with respect to horizon. An ejecting gas and water are mixed at the front face of the ports 2 to gas and water jets directing upward. The ceiling parts 7 of gas headers 5 are liquid guide pates which incline backward of the ports 2, receive the water separated from the gas and water injected to the strip S and reflected therefrom and guide this water to the direction further from the strip S.
