Abstract
PURPOSE: The cyclization reaction of a phenylacetic ester derivative is effected using a condensing agent to produce the titled compound through the one-stage process with industrial advantage, which is used as an anti-inflammatory or analgesic or an intermediate thereof.
CONSTITUTION: The cyclization reaction of a phenylacetic ester derivative of formula II (R is lower alkyl) is conducted in the presence of a condensing agent such as polyphosphoric acid or polyphosphoric estr at 50W150°C to give the compound of formulaI. The amount of the condensing agent is 5W30 times, preferably 10W20 times the weight amount of the compound of formula II.
