NEW MATERIAL:The titled compound expressed by formula I (R is H or lower alkyl).
EXAMPLE: N-Ethyl-N-[ 2-( pyrrolidinyl )-6-pyrimidinyl ]aminomethylenemalonitrile.
USE: A medicine, particylarly a synthetic intermediate for chemotherapeutic agent.
PROCESS: A pyrimidine derivative of formula II is heated in an alkyl polyphosphate, e.g. ethyl ester, to give the compound of formula I.
