Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce production processes and to make mass production possible by sealing acid-treated flake graphite into a metallic mold and expandiang the same by heating or heating the same in a heating furnace to expand thereby packing and pressure molding the same in the metallic mold.
CONSTITUTION: Flake graphite is immersed in a concd. sulfuric acid or conccd. nitric acid or the like and is washed and dried, whereby vermiculite graphite is obtained. When this vermiculite graphite is sealed in a metallic mold and is heated in a heating furnace, the volume expands and the mold is formed. Or the vermiculite graphite is placed on an iron plate, is charged into the heating furnace and is heated to expand. This expanded vermiculite graphite is loaded into the metallic mold and is compressed with a press, whereby the mold is formed.
