Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the cycle time of the unit and enable powder metallurgy to be effectively accomplished by disposing a barrel having no gas permeabiliry between a high pressure cylinder and a heat insulating layer and hermetically coupling the barrel and high pressure cylinder at one or more places. CONSTITUTION:A barrel member 7 of material having no gas permeability or small gas permeability is interposed between the heat insulating layer 5 and high pressure cylinder 1 in the unit and is hermetically sealed 8 at one or more places thereof to form a heat insulating wall. At the time of recovering the gas being a high temperature and pressure medium in the high pressure chamber 4 in order to take out the molding upon ending of processing with the hot hydrostatic press, this high temperature gas rises between the heat insulating layer 5 and barrel member 7 and is recovered from gas path 9 without percolating between the barrel 7 and the inside wall of the cylinder 1. At this time the inside wall of the high pressure cylinder 1 is maintained at a low temperature by the hermetic seal 8 between the barrel 7 and the inside wall of the high pressure cylinder 1 even if a temperature gradient occurs between both, thus gas venting is accomplished safely and rapidly.
