CONSTITUTION: This optical glass has a composition consisting of, by wt., 28W30% B2O3, 1W3% SiO2, 44W51% La2O3, 0W12% Y2O3, 0W10% Gd2O3 (2W12% Y2O3+Gd2O3), 4W7% ZrO2, 3W10% Nb2O5, 0W0.5% R2O (R=Li, Na or K), 0W <2% SrO, 0W <2% BaO, 0W<2% ZnO, 0W1% Al2O3 (0W <2% SrO+BaO+Al2O3), 0W0.1% As2O3 and/or Sb2O3, 0W2% SnO2 and 0W5% WO3. The refractive index (nd) and Abbe's number (νd) of this glass are regulated to values in the region formed by connecting points A, B, C, D, E, F. This glass is inexpensive and has superior chemical durability, phase inseparability and meltability.
