Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the characteristics of glass such as the light transmissivity in a shorter wavelength region and a transmittance change due to melting conditions by adjusting the glass composition to B2O3-SiO2-La2O3-Y2O3-ZrO2-Nb2O5-divalent metal oxide-reducing defoaming agent of a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: This optical glass consists of by wt., 30W33% B2O3, 1W3.5% SiO2 (B2O3+SiO2=33W35%), 43W49% La2O3, 6W12% Y2O3 (La2O3+Y2O3= 54W57%), 6W7.5% ZrO2, 1W2.5% Nb2O3, 1W2.5% SrO, 0W1% BaO, 0W1% ZnO (SrO+BaO+ZnO=0.5W2%) and 0.01W0.1% As2O3+Sb2O3. This glass does not contain Ta2O5 and Gd2O3, has optical constants such as 1.770±6×103 refractive index and 49.5±0.5 Abbe's number, and shows superior chemical durability, phase separation resistance, meltability and defoamability.
