Abstract

PURPOSE: To relatively increase the prism refractive index and Abbe's no. of SiO2-B2O3-CaO-ZnO-R2O-TiO2(or -ZrO2) type glass and to enhance the chemical durability thereof by specifying the compsn. of the glass.
CONSTITUTION: The title glass having a refractive index (nd) above 1.55, an Abbe's no. (νd) above 50, a specific gravity below 2.80 and superior chemicl durability is obtd. by blending SiO2 55W65%, B2O3 1W10%, TiO2+ZrO2 1W5%, TiO2≤5%, ZrO2≤5%, CaO 10W20%, ZnO 3W15%, one or more out of Li2O, Na2O and K2O 5W12%, Al2O3≤4% and As2O3≤1%.
