Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently utilize the sensible heat of hot waste gas exhausted from a kiln for melting starting materials for glass by recovering heat in the high temp. and low temp. regions of the waste gas and dropping the temp. alone in the medium temp. region by mixing a gas or other method.
CONSTITUTION: Hot waste gas exhausted from a kiln for melting starting materials for glass and contg. SiO2-base dust contg. B2O3 and Na2O+K2O as principal components is fed to a primary heat recovering apparatus to drop the temp. of the waste gas to >700°C primary temp. During this time, sensible heat is recovered. Dust stuck to the apparatus is melted and flows from the apparatus as a low viscosity liq., so the operation of the apparatus is not hindered. After dropping the temp. of the waste gas to ≤600°C secondary temp. by mixing a gas or spraying water, the waste gas is fed to a secondary heat recovering apparatus to recover the residual sensible heat. At this time, dust is dry fine powder, so it can be removed simply to make the stopping of the operation unnecessary.
