Abstract

PURPOSE: To suitably adapt to wide range of rotational speed, a plurality of resonance chambers which are disposed on branch passage of an intake passage, by providing at least one of those passages with a control valve for opening/closing.
CONSTITUTION: An intake passage 4 of an engine 1 having a turbo-supercharger consisting of an exhaust turbine 3 installed in an exhaust passage 2 and a compressor 5 installed in an intake passage 4 is provided with a plurality of resonance chambers 12 through branch passage 11. Additionally opening/closing valves 13, 13 are installed, whereby chambers 12 are so arranged as may be selected either operative or inoperative. If the valves 13, 13 are controlled to be opened and closed with a constroller 14, both of the valves 13, 13 may be opened and closed in mutually different ranges of rotational speed so that they can make response freely to a wide range of rotational speed.
