Abstract

PURPOSE: To stop supercharging in a low load range and improve the combustion characteristics of the engine by a method wherein an operation and closing valve is provided in bypass passages for the supercharger to open and close it in accordance with the number of revolution of the engine and the temperature of exhaust gas.
CONSTITUTION: The bypass passages 11, 17 detouring the supercharger 4 are provided in an exhaust pipe 2 and a suction pipe 3 for the engine 1. In case each signal value from a revolutional number detector 21 and an exhaust temperature detector 22 has exceeded a preset value, a solenoid three-way valve 19 is operated and bypass passage opening and closing valves 12, 16 are opened through an actuator 18. Thus, the supercharging is stopped in the low load range by opening the valves 12, 16, thereby enabling to improve the combustion characteristics of the engine.
