Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to secure the necessary exhaust gas recirculation even upon a rapid acceleration by a method wherein two sets of valves having reverse characteristics each other are arranged in series in an exhaust gas recirculating path and a negative pressure delay valve is provided in a negative pressure path connected to one of the valves.
CONSTITUTION: The first valve 2 being closed as an introduced negative pressure is becoming larger and the second valve 3 opened reversely as the introduced negative pressure is becoming larger are arranged in series in the exhaust gas recirculating path 1. The negative pressure delay valve 10 is provided in the negative pressure path 9 for the second valve 3 and is constituted so as to open the valve 3 with a predetermined delay upon the rapid acceleration. A water temperature sensing valve 11 is provided in the negative pressure path 9 if necessary. The valve 3 is fully opened and the valve 2 is controlling the exhaust gas recirculation upon the normal running, however, if the rapid acceleration is effected upon this time, a suction negative pressure is reduced and the valve 2 is opened fully. On the other hand, the valve 3 is maintained in opened condition during a constant period of time due to the existence of the delay valve 10 and secures the necessary exhaust gas recirculation upon the rapid acceleration.
