Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily control the coloring density by regulating an opposite electrode so that every surface parts of an Al material are made to be equipotential state before electrolytically coloring an anodically oxidized film on the Al material in an aqueous soln. contg. metallic salt.
CONSTITUTION: An Al material 10 is anodically oxidized in an aqueous H2SO4 soln. to form a primary film, and secondary electrolysis is carried out in an electrolytic soln. contg. Ni salt to color the film. When the film is colored by the secondary electrolysis, a reference electrode R is set on the surface of the Al material 10 to measure the potential of each surface part, and an opposite electrode 9 is regulated by partial masking or other method so that the surface potential of the Al material 10 is made to be equipotential state. By this method the surface of the Al material 10 is evenly colored at uniform density.
