Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a colored film color-coded to ≥2 kinds of different tones by providing an auxiliary electrode consisting of a conductive material of the same pole as that of the work which is Al (alloy) subjected beforehand to anodic oxidation treatment other than a counter electrode in an electrolytic coloring bath.
CONSTITUTION: In electrolytically coloring the Al (alloy) subjected beforehand to anodic oxidation treatment with an aq. soln. contg. salt or acid or metal as an electrolytic coloring bath, the coloring is carried out by installing an auxiliary electrode consisting of a conductive material of the same pole as that of the work other than the counter electrode in said bath. Then, electric current flows in the conductive material of the same pole as that of the Al (alloy) as well, and a difference in current distribution occurs between the surface of the work near the auxiliary electrode and the surface of the work further therefrom. As a result, a difference in density occurs in color tones after the coloring. If coloring of another color is applied by ordinary electrolytic coloring treatment after or before this irregular coloring forming process, the colored film not only having a difference in density of color tones but also color-coded to ≥2 colores at different tones is obtained.
