Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a photoreceptor which is high in thermal stability, does not cause memory effect and has good potential holding characteristics by providing a photoconductive layer consisting of CdS power of which the half valued width of X-ray diffracted rays are in a specific relation depending upon inte-face spacings and a binding resin. CONSTITUTION:CdS powder of which the half valued width of X-ray diffracted rays is >=0.1 deg. after subtraction of background by using a Cu-Kalpha ray (lambda=1.54Angstrom ) at 3.36Angstrom inter-face spacing, and of which the half valued width at 1.75-1.76Angstrom inter- face spacings is >=1.2 times the half valued width of the above-described 3.36Angstrom is prepd. The coating soln. prepd. by dispersing this CdS powder in a soln. of a binder (thermoplastic resin or thermosetting resin) is coated on a condective substrate and is dried to allow the soln. to set, whereby the photoconductive layer is formed. An insulation layer of a polyethylene terephthalate film or the like is formed on this photoconductive layer, whereby the photoreceptor is obtained. Thereby, the superior photoreceptor which is stable against the heat during formation of the photoconductive layer and insulation layer and has no memory effect and the like is obtained.
