Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a developing powder layer which is homogeneous and uniform without using a carrier by disposing an electrostatic image holding member and an insulating developer carrier at a constant interval in a developing part, and by making a spherical insulating developer carried in a thickness thinnner than the said interval. CONSTITUTION:In a developing device having an electrostatic image holding photoreceptor drum 11 and an internal fixed magnet 19 for example, and using a nonmagnetic cylinder 14a as a one-component insulating magnetic developer carrier, the interval of the development part between the drum 11 and cylinder 14a is set to a definite size. On the other hand, an iron-made doctor blade 20 is disposed close (50-500mum) to the surface of the cylinder 14a and opposedly to one magnetic pole of the fixed magnet 19, a developer 21 is restricted to have a thickness (30- 300mum) thinner than the said interval. This developer 21 is obtained by crushing a raw material after fusing and mixing and by heting it in the form of a fluid layer to obtain in a spherical shape, and by classifying it in 5-20mum grain size. Thus, a developer layer is formed in a uniform thickness on the cylinder 14a to obtain superior pictures free of uneveness.
