Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce metallic powder having no variance in grain sizes with good efficiency by setting the angle that the horizontal plane perpendicular to molten metal flow forms with spray medium flow as well as the flow speed of the spray medium and the ratio between the flow rate of molten metal and the flow rate of the spray medium at prescribed values in spraying the molten metal by means of a nonpolar solvent, oil or the like and pulverizing the same.
CONSTITUTION: The melt of metal to be ground is flowed down from a vessel 1 as molten metal flow 2. A spray medium 5 of a nonpolar solvent or mineral oil, animal or vegetable oil or the like is sprayed from nozzles 4 to blow off the molten metal flow and at the same time to cool the same, whereby the metallic powder having no surface oxidized films is produced. In this case, the angle θ that the spray medium flow 5 forms with respect to a horizontal plane 3 perpendicular to the molten metal flow 2 is set at 50W82°, the flow speed of the spray medium flow 5 at 50W500m/sec and further the ratio of the flow rate of the molten metal /the flow rate of the spray medium at 0.008W0.8. The average grain sizes of the metallic grains formed are ≤250μ and the metallic powder of less variance in grain sizes is produced.
