Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce pressure drop owing to viscosity and pulverizing molten metal with low pressure spraying by heating a spraying medium such as nonpolar solvent to a correct temp. at the time of pulverizing the molten metal by an atomization method.
CONSTITUTION: A temp. controlling tank 11 is provided before a compressor 11, and a spraying medium such as nonpolar solvent, mineral oil or vegetable oil is heated to suitable temp. of above ordinary temp.W b.p. -50°C by a heater 15, to lower its viscosity. This is maintained at a constant temp. by using an impeller 17 or the like and the spray medium kept at an adequate temp. is fed to the compressor 11 by which it is compressed to high pressure. Thence, if necessary, the temp. thereof is finely adjusted by a heater 14 provided on the way of a spray medium transport pipe 12, and the medium is sprayed into molten metal flow 3 from a nozzle 2. Since this spray medium has been lowered of viscosity by the heating, it can be sprayed under low pressure at about 120W140kg/cm2. By this spraying, the molten metal flow 3 is powdered and the powder is quickly cooled to solidify in a powdering tank 4.
