Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the remote supply of regenerative power by connecting a thyrister hybrid bridge including a parallel flywheel diode in series to a 3-phase full-wave rectifier with a diode in a current feeding for a DC electric railway system.
CONSTITUTION: At a DC feeding substation SS1, the secondary side of a transformer is connected to a diode 3-phase full-wave rectifier B and a thyristor 3-phase full-wave rectifier U combining a flywheel diode F in parallel whith is energized wuth the thyristor off while both rectifiers are connected in series. When the feeding current is below a specified value, the rectifier B is operated, while the rectifier U is operated when it is thereabove. This permits the feeding voltage to be set at such a low level free from trouble with an auxiliary device when light loaded, thereby facilitating the supply of regenerative power to an electric car existing at a remote location.
