Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the power regenerating installation for lower cost by converting DC regenerative power developed in the electric tracks sectioned to AC power to be fed to the power supply through a common power converter.
CONSTITUTION: The power for power running of electric vehicles 13 and 13' is produced at substations 1W3 by converting 3-phase AC voltage received from the commercial frequency 3-phase AC transmission line through a AC breaker 5 to DC power with a proper voltage through a transformer 6 and power rectifiers 7 and 7' and then, fed through a positive bus 10 and respective electric tracks properly sectioned. On the other hand, regenerative power required during the power regenerating operation is fed to 3-phase AC power supply 4' through DC buses 9 and 9', a power inverter 8, a transformer 6' and a breaker 5'. Diodes 14 and 14' are connected between the buses 9 and 9' herein used with the cathodes thereof connected to the power inverter 8 through a power invertion bus 15 thereby simplifying the installation.
