PURPOSE:To eliminate an erroneous correcting operation for the normal mode and the high-speed mode, by discriminating a synchronizing code including a block number and a field number. CONSTITUTION:It is detected by an error detecting circuit 11 whether a code error exists or not in each sub-block, and the block discrimination code indicating each sub-block position and the field discrimination code are discriminated by a synchronizing code discrimination circuit 12. By this discriminated code, for a control circuit 13 which controls an internal code correcting circuit 16 only in case the same field corresponds to the sub-block in one internal-code; for a control circuit 14 which controls an external code correcting circuit 17, only in case the same field corresponds to the sub-block for the whole sub-block; for a correction circuit 15, only in case the same field corresponds to the sub-block fot the whole sub-block contained in the internal-code; the modification is executed so as to make the respective correction operations possible.
