Abstract

PURPOSE:To make frictional electricity charging which will not be influenced by moisture, by using a brush made of a high polymeric fiber. CONSTITUTION:A photo sensitive surface 2 is charged with electricity by impressin a voltage 8 across a brush 3 composed of fiber 5 which is low in resistivity and which is made by adding carbon, etc., to a high polymeric substance so that the high polymeric substance may contain carbon, etc., and a photosencitive drum 1, and by rotating the drum 1. This charging procedure requires a lower voltage and less effected by the moisture when compared with the corona charging. When the brush is used in a belt shape and the brush is bridged between rollers 14 and 15, the contacting area becomes wider and the electrical charge becomes uniform.
