Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately control the fuel injection quantity and time of a fuel injector for a diesel engine, by operating solenoid valves, which determine the fuel injection time and the measurement of fuel by a free piston, in the direction of addition of fluid pressure.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of suction by a plunger pump 5, fuel supplied under pressure flows into the measuring chamber A of a free piston 7 through a solenoid valve 12 and a check valve 8 and fuel on the opposite side is sucked into the plunger pump 5. When the capacity of the meauring chamber A has reached an instructed value dependent on the working conditions of an engine, fluid pressure is added to the force of a spring to rapidly open the solenoid valve 12. At the time of compression of the pump 5, a solenoid valve 15 is opened and fuel flows out to a return pipe 4 through a check valve 14. When injection time has come, fluid pressure is added to rapidly close the solenoid valve 15 and the free piston 7 is pushed by the pressure of a plunger 5c to inject an instructed quantity of fuel through an injector 8.
