Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize the control of fuel injection by actuating a piezoelectric element controlling the fuel pressure within a hydraulic chamber in a crank angle zone wherein no fuel injection is processed, and preventing fuel pressure from fluctuating before fuel injection. CONSTITUTION:When a plunger 17 is lowered depending on a cam 22 driven by an engine, a fuel feed port 25 is closed, fuel within a fuel force feeding chamber 18 flows out into a fuel downtake chamber 23a through both a passage 32 and a circular groove 30 of a sliding valve 28. A piezoelectric element 41 is energized at the time of fuel injection so as to let a piston 40 be displaced to the left. The pressure within a hydraulic chamber 42 is increased instantly so as to close the sliding valve 28 via a rod 37 for injecting fuel. An electronic control unit 50 controlling an unit injector 1 concerned actuates the piezoelectric element 41 based on the detected value from a crank angle sensor 61 when the plunger 17 is in a position ready to compression, thereby lowering the fuel pressure within the hydraulic chamber 42 for preventing erroneous injection.
