Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency and operability of the pumps by a method wherein the number adopted at will of the pumps out of a plurality of the variable capacity pumps are controlled by means of pressure or power and the set flow rate value, which is smaller out of the values to be set at the pressure control and at the power control, is used for setting of the flow rate of the remaining pumps.
CONSTITUTION: Discharge flow rates of the variable capacity pumps 1, 2 and 3, all of which are driven by a single prime mover 4, are respectively controlled by actuators 126, 127 and 128 with the outputs of an operating device 125. At first the available power of the pumps 1 and 2 is calculated by subtracting the consumed power of the pump 3 from the output power of the prime mover 4. Said calculated power is input, together with the set flow rate value, to a low selector 138 to output a low set flow rate value signal, with which the pump 1 is controlled. After the pump 2 is controlled in a similar manner as described above about the pump 1, the outputs of an operating unit 153 and a controller 155 are input to a low selector 156 to output a low set flow rate value signal. In such a manner as mentioned above, the pressure and power controls are possible before and after the increase of load.
