Abstract
PURPOSE: To make a welding gun controllable to arbitrary positions with good accuracy by interposing a constant velocity type universal joint between a revolving shaft for turning a welding gun and its driving shaft, in a welding robot.
CONSTITUTION: In a driving device for a welding gun 11 of a welding robot, a universal joint 18 for transmitting driving force at a constant angular speed is interposed between a driving shaft 17 provided in the rear part of an arm 2 and a revolving shaft 14 which holds the root part 12 of the gun 11 turnably. To turn the gun 11 horizontally, the shaft 17 is rotated and its rotating force is transmitted to the shaft 14 via the joint 18. The driving power of the articulated motion of that time is transmitted via a ball to housings 20, 20, and resolves the shart 14 at a constant rotating angular speed, and therefore the gun 11 is changed of direction freely to the arbitrary positions requested.
