Abstract
908,563. Mixing appliances. SCHATZ, P. Feb. 4, 1959 [Feb. 6, 1958 ; April 11, 1958], No. 3899/59. Class 86. [Also in Group XXIV] In order to impart to a body A such as a mixing container a wobbling movement combined with a rotation on its own axis, the body A is carried by two rings 6 pivoted in forks 4, 5, themselves pivoted to spaced parallel auxiliary shafts 2, 3 which rotate at the same speed in opposite directions, and according to the invention a non-uniform rotation is obtained by driving one or both of the auxiliary shafts 2, 3 through respective universal joints 2a, 3a on shafts 8, 9 which are inclined at 45 degrees to the shafts 2, 3, the angle (90 degrees as shown) between the two pivot axes (2c, 2d) on each auxiliary shaft being complementary to the angle (zero as shown) between the plane containing the two auxiliary shafts (2, 3), and the plane containing the universally jointed shafts (2, 7). The shaft 8 is coupled by bevel gearing to the shaft 7 which is driven by a motor 12. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the auxiliary shafts are coupled through universal joints to respective shafts which while being inclined at 45 degrees to the auxiliary shafts are parallel to each other so that the angle between the planes referred to above is 90 degrees and consequently the complementary angle between the two pivot axes is zero (i.e. the axes are parallel). In this modification one of the shafts coupled to the universal joints is driven through belt gearing while the other is not driven but carries a flywheel. Alternatively the second universal joint and flywheel may be omitted. Specification 548,355 is referred to.
