Abstract

CONSTITUTION:An electrochromic display device using a solid electrolyte is composed of transparent glass substrates 1, 2, a spacer 3, a display electrode 4 made of transparent thin film of In2O3 or the like, an electrochromic layer 5 of WO3 or the like, an insulating layer 8 of SiO2, an opposite electrode 6 made of vapor-deposited Au film and a solid electrolyte 7. The electrolyte 7 is made of plastic material prepared by kneading phosphorous worlframic acid with about 5-10wt% glycerol. Thus, reduction in the display contrast and the responding speed due to defective contact are prevented, and a contrast and a responding speed comparable with those of a display device using a liq. electrolyte are obtd.
