Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve operability and reliability of a reader, by forming the output end of a light guide and the input end of an image guide in one body after they are separately formed in a layer to have a linear shape, and using the resulting product as a readout element. CONSTITUTION:Light guides LG1 and LG2 are formed so that they have a linear shaped, and arranged so that they are in a layer, and then, the layered light guide GL1 and GL2 are fitted to both the sides of an image guide IG, respectively. Then, they are formed in one body and used as a readout element at a readout head D. The picture information on the surface of an original O illuminated by the light of a lamp 12 in a lamp house B is readout by the input end of the image guide IG, transmitted through the image guide IG, and reaches the output end. Then, the information focuses in a solid image sensor 11 through an image forming optical system 10, and the focused information is converted into a picture signal, and then, is outputted through an output signal processing circuit 21 as picture signal having a required signal condition. Since the weight of the manually operated subscanning readout head is reduced in weight, good operations can be expected. Moreover, since precise parts are installed in the pickup part A, the parts is not deteriorated by operation.
