Abstract
PURPOSE:To economically mass-produce stable and uniform rollers of high quality by pouring an outside layer material in the mold spaces of prescribed depth provided in plural pieces in the inside axial direction of metal molds for centrifugal casting, and pouring an inside layer material before the central parts thereof slidify. CONSTITUTION:A composite discoid roller 30 for levelers of shape steels such as H beams consist of an abrasion resistant outer layer part 25 and a tough inside layer part 26. Metal mold bands 12 are provided at both ends in the axial direction of metal molds 11 for centrifugal casting, and ringlike chillers 14 and set metal molds 13 for isolating are alternately provided in the inside. Respectively independent molding spaces are provided in required number by these according to the widths of products 28 and the lengths of the metal molds 11. Next, the leading end of a pouring spout 18 is located to face the space at one end of the metal mold, and molten outer layer material 16 is successively poured into each space by the rotation of the molds 11 and the movement thereof from the solid lines in the figure up to the chain line position. The outer side of the molten metal 16 is quickly solidified by the molds 12, 13, and the chillers 14, but at the point of the time when it begins to solidify, molten inner layer material 17 is similarly poured by the spout 18 and is fused in one piece with the outer layer material. The resultant blank material 22 is cut to 22a, and is machined, whereby products 28 are obtained.
