Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the cylinder or cylindrical column whose outside shell is of the material dissimilar in chemical composition from that of the inside shell and is integral with the inside shell by centrifugally casting partial outside shell molten metal in the mold segmented in its axial direction then casting the inside shell molten metal in the mold. CONSTITUTION:For example, it is assumed that the steel bar rolling roll integrally formed with an inside shell 1 and a partial outside shell 3 of the material dissimilar to that of the inside shell is going to be manufactured. To this end, a partition member 7 is erected to a suitable height on the inside surface of a centrifugal casting mold 5 which is supported and revolved by revolving rollers 6 to segment between sand molds 8. Partial outside shell molten metal is partially poured to the segmented inside surfaces of the mold through the spout 9 inserted into this mold 5 from its one opening end and is then centrifugally cast. As a result of this, the outside shell of the material of the chemical composition provided with the required characteristics is first formed in the axial portion 3 of the mold.
