Abstract
PURPOSE: To surely prevent the neck breaking of flange portions and efficiently obtain the sound double-flanged pipe by using the special core metal die which is provided with a shrinkage absorbing member at the freezing of molten metal and is bisected in the length and circumferential directions within the casting metal mold.
CONSTITUTION: The split core metal mold 2 interposed with the low-melting point metal ring 3 (Sb-Bi alloy or the like if material is, for example, Al) of the thickness allowing for the shrinkage margin according to the materials of casting product between the longitudinal split faces of the core metal die 2 consisting of the segmental pieces 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d which are bisected in the length and circumferential directions is inserted in the casting mold 1 which is similar to known metal molds, thence the intended molten metal is poured in the core metal mold 2, whereby casting is done. This enables the sure prevention of the neck breaking of the flange portions, permits the repetitive use of the core and yields the double-flanged pipe with considerably high efficiency and productivity as compared to those by conventional sand mold molding.
